A massive Congratulations to everyone who ran the marathon for Seafarers UK this year.
In hot and sunny conditions, Seafarers UK saw over 30 runners complete the course in some truly fantastic times. While money is still being collected, the charity is looking at yet another bumper year with over £50,000 being raised.
We were also extremely pleased to see so many of you afterwards at our post-race reception on board HQS Wellington. For a selection of photos taken by Seafarers UK staff on the day, please see the bottom of this page.

Virgin London Marathon 2010
Are you interested in taking part in an event that will leave you with memories you can cherish for a lifetime. Do you want to help to improve the quality of life within the maritime community?
If you are interested in joining Team Seafarers UK in this fantastic race you have two options:
Firstly visit www.virginlondonmarathon.com and enter the official ballot. If you are lucky enough to gain a place, we would love for you to run for the charity and ask for no minimum fundraising amount.
Alternatively, please visit www.crunch.org.uk/seafarers and pledge to raise at least £1300. When filling in your application form please mention that you have come direct from the Seafarers UK website.
We will provide every member of Team Seafarers UK with everything needed to make the whole experience as enjoyable as possible.
Including:
Fantastic training, nutrition and fundraising information
- A Seafarers UK running vest
- The option to receive balloons, posters and other fundraising tools to help you with your fundraising efforts.
- Regular updates and communications to keep you motivated
- Access to snacks, drinks, massages and showers on our fantastic after-race reception on HQS Wellington on the River Thames.
- A member of the events team always on hand via phone or email to help you with any fundraising or training issues you may have.

BUPA Great South Run - Portsmouth - 24th October 2010

Join Team Seafarers UK for the Bupa Great South Run this year and achieve something amazing. This flat, fast course attracts elite athletes from around the world as well as celebrities and fun runners alike. The route takes you by Portsmouth and Southsea’s famous landmarks; including Spinnaker Tower and HMS Victory as enthusiastic crowds line the roadsides along the route and live bands help you keep your rhythm for what promises to be an amazing race!
We will do all that we can to ensure that your Great South Run experience is one you will never forget.
Our support
Whether you have your own place or would like a Seafarers UK guaranteed place we will be with you every step of the way. We offer all our runners fantastic support which includes:
• Loads of training and fundraising advice
• Regular email updates on the race with fundraising hints and tips
• A Seafarers UK running vest
• A dedicated and experienced project manager to provide support and advice.
• Plenty of support along the route
Gaining a place
There are two ways in which you can join the Seafarers UK team:
1. Each year Seafarers UK have a number of guaranteed places in the event and if you would like to run on one of these we ask that you pay a registration fee of £25 and raise a minimum sponsorship of £200.
2. The ballot is now open. To register, please visit the Great South Runs website. If you are lucky enough to gain your own place from the event organisers we would love you to be a part of our team too. While still applicable to all of the great benefits above, we simply ask that you raise as much money as you can.
