One of the most demanding and exhilarating mountain events organised as a charity challenge and the ultimate team building experience.

In the beautiful surroundings of the Lake District you will be climbing 24 Peaks, all over 2,400 feet in 24 hours. In addition to the physical challenge, we will be asking each team to raise at least £5,000 which will be used to provide essential support to those in need within the maritime community.

24 Peaks 2007

Seafarers UK is very pleased to announce that it has raised over £250,000 thanks to the commitment of the 34 intrepid teams who took part in our grueling Lloyd's Register 24 Peaks Challenge over the weekend of 7th and 8th July 2007.

Some participants did fall by the wayside but representatives from every team completed the challenge. Well done to you all!

We are very grateful to all the teams for doing such an amazing job with their fundraising. 'Summit's Up' led by Lloyd's Register Group Finance Director, Michael Kayser raised the highest amount - over £58,000! Congratulations to you all!

The event was a huge success and, despite some participants likening it to climbing Kilimanjaro, we have already - by popular demand - booked to do it again next year on 19th/20th July!

It checks that assets and systems work so that people and communities around the world can get on with everyday life. To make this happen, Lloyd's Register sets, upholds and supports high technical standards of design, manufacture, construction, maintenance, operation and performance across many industries to the benefit of many businesses.

Lloyd's Register stands apart - independent, objective, experienced and uncompromising in its commitment to helping its clients. It does what it does because life matters.

Lloyd's Register has generously covered all the costs of the 24 Peaks Challenge. This means that all the money raised will go directly to support the work of Seafarers UK.

What people thought of the 2007 challenge

The whole event was amazing. It was extremely tough and harder than I could have imagined. The rewards though were excellent and the sense of achievement unbelievable. The feeling of cheer and joy to complete it in under 24 hours was out of this world. We were all on a high for several days. The best event I have taken part in and probably ever will.
Andrew Oxley, Dorchester Atlantic Maritime Ltd

Without doubt, one of the toughest events I have ever done but it was so well organised. It was a pleasure to be able to take part and raise runds for such a worthy cause. Well done to all of the organisers.
Dan Hughes, Premier Marinas

The 24 Peaks was a really challenging, but also fascinating experience in a beautiful landscape, plus very well organised! A big thank you from BS INVEST Wanderlust to the teams from Seafarers UK and Global Challenge, you did an excellent job.
Christina Neison, BS Invest

Organisation of the event by Seafarers UK and Global Challenge staff was absolutely fantastic. Everything I expected and then some.
Lt. Alan Ainsworth, Team Naughty Monkey (Royal Navy)

The 24 Peaks was the most difficult, but rewarding event I have ever taken part in. The team building and new friends you acquire are the best aspects. I have now completed it two years running!
Sarah Walsh, Lloyd's Register

The challenge was a personal success for me as two years ago I was overweight and unfit and would not have made the first hill. It was tough but exhilarating and the sense of achievement is incredible. Because of this challenge I have now taken up hill walking, it's great!
Alan Fairney, Maritime & Coastguard Agency
