Scaling 24 peaks in 24 hours might not be for the faint hearted – but this is one event guaranteed to provide the ultimate challenge. The 24 Peaks Challenge, taking place in the Lake District on July 18th-19th is in aid of Seafarers UK.
In the beautiful surroundings of the Lake District you will be climbing 24 Peaks, all over 2,400 feet in 24 hours. The challenge does require training and commitment but is a great way for teams to work together and show support for the seafaring community.
This is a challenge all about team work, each team of six people will be asked to raise £5,000 which will be used to provide vital support to those in need from the maritime community including seafarers, ex-seafarers and their families. Last year’s 24 Peaks Challenge raised £265,000 for Seafarers UK and it is hoped this years event will rival that sum.
Lee Dobbins, Seafarers UK, said, “The 24 Peak Challenge is not only a huge test of endurance but also one of our most enjoyable challenges in terms of the levels of determination and teamwork needed to complete the weekend challenge set in the beautiful Lake District.”
Seafarers UK is Britain’s leading seafaring charity helping people from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, Merchant Navy and fishing fleets. Seafarers UK is working to increase funding to the seafaring community with the launch of its 2 Million Reasons Campaign aimed at highlighting the shortfall in funding available for seafarers in the UK.
